5/30 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center, 10am-1PM, 63-68F, mid
tide, rising,
At 10am, female osprey was on nest, male on perch. They did some
housekeeping today, with some blue object visible on the nest. At 12:30, 2
intruder ospreys flew over, as both our male and female were on the nest.
The intruders were were chased off; then the female stayed on the perch
and male took over nest duty.
On marsh: 1 Yellow crowned night heron, 2 Snowy Egrets, 4 Tree Swallows
hawking insects over the marsh, 1 D. C. Cormorant fly by, 5 Mute swans and
several Brant far out.
On grounds: American Robins, 15 common Grackles, Starlings, 5 Mourning
doves, 2 Song sparrows, 3 red winged blackbirds, 3 Cardinals (2 Male, 1
female), 4 House finches (2 males, 1 female feeding a juvenile)
and a pair of Tree swallows in nest box.
