Nine of us had an enjoyable Grand Valley Audubon Society bird walk in and around the Ela Sanctuary/Connected Lakes.
Highlights were watching a lot of interaction between two Cooper's Hawks-a male, judging by the smaller size, and presumably a juvenile female (clearly larger). The smaller hawk flew back and forth numerous times and was bringing sticks to a crotch in the top of a cottonwood. We also had a nicely perched Great Horned Owl, managed to see a single Bushtit (at its nest), and viewed a pair of Black Phoebes actively feeding young on their nest at "Phoebe Rock."
