Subject: Female King Eider Still Present-Pitt St. Causeway, Mount Pleasant, SC
The female King Eider is still present at Pitt St. Causeway about 1045am
this morning. The bird seems to flow and swim with the tide, a gentleman
there said the duck floated by the causeway toward Shem Creek on the
incoming tide about 930am and when the tide turned, she was floating and
swmiing toward the Causeway from the Shem Creek area. She was actively
diving about 200m from the causeway and you could see prey items in her
bill when she surfaced. At 1115am the bird was feeding just past where the
mud flats are visible at low tide out from the restored oyster reefs.
