Subject: [CT Birds] yard birds of Whitney Center, Hamden
5/15 Hamden, Whitney Center. A beginner's bird walk on the beautiful
grounds of Whitney Center (accompanied by Kris Johnson), and 6 others,
yielded an abundance of birds. Mostly more common birds (but fun for new
birders):
multiple American Robins and Red Winged Blackbirds, very vocal Song
sparrows, a Chipping Sparrow, House sparrows, a Blue Jay, a Cardinal, an
American Crow, pair of House finches, 1 Red bellied woodpecker, 1 Downy
Woodpecker, several Catbirds, 1 Mockingbird, several American Goldfinches,
Common Grackles, several Tree Swallows over the pond, Fly overs by A Great
blue heron, Great Egret, and Ring Billed gull .
