Fog and low clouds kept the birds low and singing, 17 species of warblers this morning from 8 to noon. Highlights included four (!) Canada Warblers, my favorite; a MOURNING WARBLER first heard and then recorded one-quarter mile up from lock, adjoining golf course; Bay-breasted, Magnolia, Black-throated Green, Chestnut-sided, Yellow, Redstart; lots of orioles and a singing Swainson's Thrush. Four Common Loons, apparently a family group of two adults and two immatures, was cool on the VA side of the river. Good birding!
