I spent an hour in a steady drizzle beside the rising Shavers Fork River in Parsons this morning. I saw a Yellow-breasted Chat briefly at the edge of the high water. As I was leaving I heard a few notes of an oriole song from the top of huge sycamores. There were many orioles, mostly Baltimore, but I saw two mature Orchard Oriole males. They were foraging quietly in sycamore seed pods, along with American Goldfinches, Yellow Warblers and other Warblers I couldn’t ID.
