Subject: Johnson County Birding May 2nd
Spent an enjoyable morning looking for migrants in Johnson County. Began at Blackhoof Park where the most active spots were below the dam and just across the dam. Moved on to Shawnee Mission Park and walked the gravel road past the two Boy Scout camps and up to Porta-potty Junction. Not a lot of activity but still added a few year birds. Arrived back home to find two Swainson’s Thrushes gracing the front lawn. Things were even better behind the backyard fence, were I had great looks at a male Blackpoll and a male Golden-winged Warbler.
