Spent 90 minutes in the local woods today after work.
25 to 30 Palm Warblers working their way down the path everyone uses. Could not take 10 steps without seeing a few more flitting from tree to the ground.
2 Blue Birds
2 Pine Warblers
20 to 25 Robins
11 Yellow Rumps
1 Nashville Warbler
1 Yellow Warbler
1 Blue Jay
1 Turkey Vulture
And the birds of the day 1 Solitary Sandpiper and 1 Spotted Sandpiper working the mudflats just south of Lawrence.
I have never seen a sandpiper along this stretch of the bank of the Des Plaines River in over 10 years of walking through here. Combine this with seeing, never seen before, 3 flocks of Blue Winged Teal this spring along the same stretch points to a better environment happening along the river.
