Subject: [COBOL] Crane Prairie And Wickiup Saturday 4/28/18

Here's a more detailed report for Saturday up at the Lakes. Weather started off calm at Crane Prairie but wind and rain curtailed visibility so estimating Duck numbers was off. Most species listed below in no particular order:

Sandhill Crane 3 pairs
Ring-billed Gull 11
Bonaparte's Gull 1
Common Goldeneye 4
Horned Grebe 1 full breeding plumage.
Hooded Merganser many pairs.
Common Merganser 10
Lesser Scaup
Ring-necked Duck
Double-crested Cormorant
Yellow-headed Blackbird 10
Common Loon 2
Bald Eagle 2
American White Pelican 42

Wickiup Reservoir Dam

Common Loon 7
Bonaparte's Gull 5
Ring-billed Gull 1
Horned Grebe 1
Mountain Bluebird 8
Savannah Sparrow 1

Wickiup Butte Boat Ramp

Yellow-rumped Warbler 100's as posted yesterday.
Townsend's Warbler 1
Yellow Warbler 1
Orange-crowned Warbler 3
Cassie's Vireo 1
Ruby-crowned Kinglet 2
Brewers Sparrow 1
Lincoln's Sparrow 1
White-crowned Sparrow 4
Dusky Flycatcher 1
Greater White-fronted Goose 135 fly over.
Red-winged Blackbird 65 feeding in woods during rain storm.

Round Swamp

Bonaparte's Gull 70 counted individually, were loafing on the Water picking off flies. Both adults and 1st Winter Birds present. I've never encountered this many before in Central Oregon.
The beach here, in front of spillway, was active with birds despite rain with c30 Yellow-rumped Warblers, 12 Brewers Blackbirds, 1 Chipping Sparrow, 1 Savannah Sparrow, 6 Mountain Bluebirds and 1 Gray Flycatcher behind the Dam.
Close by in the woods was a singing Brown Creeper, White-headed Woodpecker, 1 Sapsucker sp and a calling Northern Goshawk.
