Subject: Tawny- colored Hairy Woodpecker
Well, I've been doing some internet searching about this bird, and the most logical item I read suggests that the bird could be dirty/stained from feeding or excavating in moist deadwood. I found posts on different sites where others have seen the same tawny color, both on Hairy and Downy WP, over the years. Makes more sense than thinking a Hairy from the Pacific Northwest was in my yard!
Does anyone else out there have an opinion?

Saw FOY Ruby-throated Hummingbird, a female, this afternoon.
