this morning, at bear butte lake in meade county, i observed a lone, male red-breasted merganser. it mostly had its head tucked, apparently having just arrived overnight, and was near the south shore of the lake. this is not a common sighting for us west river folks.
there was not a lot of activity at the lake, just a smattering of expected waterfowl. though there were two pair of greater scaup.
also of note, was a singing eastern meadlowlark, along avavlanche road, just inside the the lawrence county line.
happy earth day to all.
