Subject: [birders] Pileated Woodpecker at Lake St. Clair Metropark
Birders,

Apologies for the late posting. Pileated Woodpecker is still a difficult
bird to find in most of Macomb County. A few years ago there were sporadic
reports at Lake St. Clair Metropark, but as far as I know there haven't
been any more reports in the past couple of years.

At around 11:15 a.m., a Pileated Woodpecker called briefly behind us (we
were banding birds adjacent to the Meadow Loop trail), and then flew in
from the southeast, flying right overhead, and landed for a few seconds
high in one of the tall trees behind the Nature Center. It then flew off to
the northeast.
