Subject: [COBOL] Old Mill sponsored bird trip lead by ECAS
Today, ECAS volunteers Marilyn Bertran and Jan Rising, led an Old Mill
sponsored bird walk along the Deschutes River at The Old Mill shopping
area.

We had a large group of 22 interested birders, which actually outnumbers
the number of species we saw today.

The highlight was watching 2 Osprey court and mate on the nesting platform
near the white water rapids park. A person who lives along the river
upstream from the frog pond, said the nest blew down last night but the
birds were active today with their interest in rebuilding it. I believe
that nesting platform has not been used for the past several years.

Total numbers of species seen today was small as well as the number of
different species seen.

Osprey
Canada Goose (one of the pairs had 4 goslings)
Mallard
Bufflehead
Gadwall
American Coot
Red-winged Blackbird
Brewer's Blackbird
Tree Swallow
Violet-green Swallow
Song Sparrow
White-crowned Sparrow
House Sparrow
Ruby-crowned Kinglet
Feral Pigeon
California Scrub Jay
Northern Flicker
Killdeer
Turkey Vulture
