Observation start time: 08:00:00 Observation end time: 12:00:00 Total observation time: 4 hours
Official Counter: Jerry McWilliams
Visitors: Visitors and spotters included Joe Susi, Jennifer Ferrick, Sam Stull, Ruth Swaney, Bonnie Ginader, David Sublett, Roger Donn, Joao Taveres, and Michael David.
Weather: Mostly cloudy with occasional open clear skies. There was at least a 15 degree difference in temperature from the lakeshore and inland. South winds away from the lake and ENE winds along the lake kept the air at a brisk 45 F.
Raptor Observations: A repeat of yesterday was not to be. A rather disappointing day, especially for all of the visitors who stopped by in hopes of seeing a sky full of raptors. Very few raptors and an almost no show of vultures.
Non-raptor Observations: Unexpected was an American Bittern that flew past us over the parking lot only a few feet above the ground giving us stunning looks. Northern Flickers staged an impressive flight with 313 counted. Other birds passing over the watch included: Common Loon-1, Double-crested Cormorant-60, Great Blue Heron-3, Caspian Tern-18, Eastern Phoebe-5, Belted Kingfisher-3, Barn Swallow-1, many blackbirds.
Predictions: Cold with rain likely and continued NE wind. There may not be a count.
