Subject: [birders] Cry4 -- the secret to how birds navigate during migration

It looks like researchers have finally unlocked the "how" of bird migration. The missing piece of knowledge is a protein called Cry4. That protein, found in the eyes of certain bird species, allows them to see the Earth's magnetic field.
