Subject: [CT Birds] CACC
4/4/18 Milford, Connecticut Audubon Coastal Center 9:50am-1PM. foggy, low
tide rising, 45-53F.
At 9:50am, I observed the male osprey sitting on a pole, eating a fish
along the private paved road. It then flew to the nest and perch and
continued eating. It flew off, and then returned to the perch at 11:45am.
On the marsh: 8 Green winged teal, 2 Greater Yellow legs, 4 Gadwalls, 1
Mallard, 2 Red breasted Mergansers, 2 Canada Geese, 2 American Black ducks,
1 Mute swan and about 150+ Brant.
The center was busy with visitors today, even with the fog and rain.
4 friendly, knowledgeable, birders from Berlin, Germany -comparing their
birds to what they observed at the Coastal Center.
On the grounds: 4 Mourning doves, Common Grackles, 2 Song sparrows,
numerous American robins, Red winged blackbirds, 1 Mockingbird, 1 Northern
Flicker;, tree swallows flying by.
