Subject: [COBOL] Weird Intergrade Flicker
While walking the dog I encountered a flicker with a trait I had never seen before. It had the orange wing-linings of a Red-shafted Flicker, but the underside of the tail markings were yellow like a Yellow-shafted Flicker. Steve Shunk indicates that there is research supporting this and in some extreme cases some birds can show different color flight feathers from one year to the next. You learn something new every day!
