Subject: [Va-bird] Royal Lake Park, Fairfax, VA
Eight birders enjoyed this morning's rainless walk at Royal Lake Park in
Fairfax sponsored by the Northern Virginia Bird Club. We tallied 47 species
on this very birdy walk. Notable were the large number of yellow-rumped
warblers, compared to the few on earlier winter walks. Seems like these
were new arrivals, traveling through. We had a hermit thrush, a rusty
blackbird, and a ruby-crowned kinglet as lingering winter visitors while a
handful of phoebes, a host of tree swallows, and two calling cowbirds were
signs of spring. Full list is below.
