Subject: [CT Birds] BLACK-HEADED GULL Stratford
3/26. Stratford, Long Beach - an adult BLACK-HEADED GULL in nearly full breeding plumage (dark half-hood, deep red bill) was bathing in shallows then preening on beach, among large flock Ring-billed Gulls, 4:35-4:45pm. Photos obtained by me and Franklin Nejame (life bird), before it flew off presumably to east. There were no Bonaparte’s Gulls present.
Lots of gulls, ducks, and Brant are moving over the Sound now (5:20) off the Seawall.
