6:00-7:20. I stood at the tip and just watched the show as the birds rounded the tip of the island. I presume they headed to sea? But why?
Red-throated Loon 15 exact count Common Loon 5 on water; not leaving; including three elsewhere on island cormorant sp. 3 BRANT 900 including two large flocks with hundreds in them Wow!; underestimate likely LONG-TAILED DUCK 139 exact count Surf Scoter 500 roughly White-winged Scoter 150 roughly; most flew later than the Surfs! Common Eider 400 roughly Black Scoter 45 NOT PART OF HARBOR WATCH; usual spot, just after three yellow tanks ICELAND GULL 3 DITTO; usual spot just after three yellow tanks
P.S. Yirrel Beach had ten Common Loons; Winthrop Beach two Common Loons
