6:00-7:20. I stood at the tip and just watched the show as the birds
rounded the tip of the island. I presume they headed to sea? But why?

Red-throated Loon 15           exact count
Common Loon 5                   on water; not leaving; including three
elsewhere on island
cormorant sp. 3
BRANT 900                          including two large flocks with
hundreds in them Wow!; underestimate likely
LONG-TAILED DUCK 139   exact count
Surf Scoter 500                    roughly
White-winged Scoter 150    roughly; most flew later than the Surfs!
Common Eider 400             roughly
Black Scoter 45                   NOT PART OF HARBOR WATCH; usual spot,
just after three yellow tanks
ICELAND GULL 3               DITTO; usual spot just after three yellow tanks

P.S. Yirrel Beach had ten Common Loons; Winthrop Beach two Common Loons
