The ice went off Kahle Lake unusually early on 3/1. More unusual, it froze over again last night almost completely. About 200 TUNDRA SWAN. There were well over 200 ducks which were hard to ID as they were huddled together at a small break in the ice and most were sleeping. I counted 61 male REDHEAD by the tops of their heads, 2 PINTAIL & 1 HORNED GREBE. There were dozens of MALLARD, HOODED MERG & RING-NECKED. It will be interesting to follow the tug of war between sun, wind and cold to see how long this new ice lasts.
