Subject: [texbirds] Calling all youth birders (and their mentors): Birding Classic team sponsorship dollars available
Hi All,
I wanted to send a call out about a great opportunity for folks who might be (or might now) mentors and chaperones for youth and/or teen birders interested in forming a team and participating in this year's Great Texas Birding Classic. As you may already know, we have two youth categories: Roughwings (13&younger) and Gliders (14-18 year olds). The Texas Ornithological Society (TOS) Board has approved sponsoring several youth teams again this year. In return, they would like the sponsored teams to provide the following:

* Mention TOS in the team name in some way and recognize them as the sponsor when promoting the team if possible.
* Provide a few photos and a little short write-up about your team's/teams' experience in the field during the competition for use in the TOS newsletter (this will be due mid-May).

If that all sounds good and you're planning on entering some youth teams this year, please let me know and I'll confirm sponsorship with TOS and work with them on payment once your registration forms are in (once you email me to confirm funding availability, please fill out your official team registration form<> to be officially registered).

Also, feel free to pass this along to others you think might be interested in mentoring/chaperoning a youth team on the Birding Classic. There are tips for mentoring a youth team available online<> to help anyone just getting started.

As always, feel free to call or email if you have any questions. Registration deadline is April 1st! And teams that have other sponsors or would prefer to be unsponsored are always welcome as well, so come one, come all!
