Subject: County Checklist Updates
The biannual update of the county checklists has been completed. These
updates represent new county sight records or confirmed county breeding
records since early September 2017. There were updates to 86 county
checklists totalling 251 new county records. Let me personally again thank
Dan Larson for the painstaking work he does annually comparing the county
checklists to the eBird records. This is not an easy task and this is the third
year he's done this, without being asked to. Dan, thank you!!!! Now, let me
add that if folks would send me new county records it would make Dan's job
somewhat easier. I know that these slip by from time to time (one of the new
county records he found was even one of my own - I may never live that
down!!!) but if you suspect you have a new county record, please send it to

The updated checklists can be accessed at:

As with every update, it's a lengthy process as I work all the way through
everything that needs to be updated. County dot maps are in process as are
the checklists and compiled files or as fillabe PDF forms.

Following are the counties that have been updated, the number of species
now on that county list and the species added. Any species name with an
asterisk following it (*) is a new confirmed breeding record. If, upon examing
the county checklists you find that you have a species not reflected on the
county checklist, please send me the information including: the species
name, date of the sighting as well as the approximate location of said

If you have any problems accessing the county checklists at the above state
URL, please let me know!
