The goal for this eveningfield trip is to hear and see (hopefully!) the twilight mating ritual of theAmerican Woodcock (AKA Timberdoodle).  Please bring a flashlight. Here’s a description of theTimberdoodle’s mating behavior from“American Woodcock spend mostof their time hidden in fields and on the forest floor, where they probe forearthworms. On spring nights, males perform very conspicuous displays, giving abuzzy peent call, and then launching into the air.
