Date: 2/26/18 7:57 am From: Bird observations from western New York <geneseebirds-l...> Subject: [GeneseeBirds-L] Ross's Goose and Greater White-fronted Geese continue in Town of Hartland
The Ross’s Goose and at least four Greater White-fronted Geese were present this morning at the Townline Rd/Johnson Creek Rd eBird hotspot in Barker. The Ross’s was quite content very close to Townline Rd. until a Bald Eagle flew into the field and stirred up most of the birds. The Ross’s was easily re-located once the birds landed, however, in the west end of the field in the large puddle that backs up to the woods. Duck numbers appeared to have increased with nearly 200 Northern Pintail estimated in the puddle viewed from Johnson Creek Rd. Other birds of note included three Snow Geese (2 white, 1 dark), a handful of Redheads, and a count of 122 Tundra Swans.
