Thanks for the hot tip, Jim!
I got out to the marina about 1:30 and was able to find the Red-throated Loon after about 20 minutes, against the far shore. A new bird for me, so I was hesitant at first, but the small size, grayish back, bright white face, clean line between white face and gray neck and short, sharp bill really stood out.
Nedra Sekera and Dave & Kathy Tickner arrived just in time to be too late, as the loon started diving / feeding just before they arrived, and busy boat activity stirred things up. We enjoyed watching about 4 or 5 Common Loons and about 55 Ring-billed Gulls while we searched for the Red-throat. The gulls were bright spots on the water when the sun hit them just right.

Hi folks, there is a Red-throated Loon off of the observation platform at Blue Ridge Marina in Blue Ridge, Ga. It’s quite distant, you’ll need a scope.
