Date: 2/23/18 1:30 pm From: Bird observations from western New York <geneseebirds-l...> Subject: [GeneseeBirds-L] Cattaraugus County - Swamp Road Randolph
Rain, drizzle and melting snow on Swamp Road in Randolph made for perfect conditions for viewing waterfowl. The number of Northern Pintail was 100+ in the grasses and on the water along with smaller numbers of Ring-necked Duck and significantly smaller numbers of Mallard, Hooded Merg., Scaup and Canadas. There was also an adult Bald Eagle and a small flock of Killdeer.
Even though the water is up to the road, a scope is recommended and there are still pockets of ice.
Goose hunting season starts in a week (March 2nd thru March 10th).
