After the rain stopped this afternoon, I spent a couple of hours late in the afternoon checking out Cheat Lake. I was surprised to find 13 species.
South of I-68 bridge:
Canada Goose--2 Redhead--1 drake Scaup species--10. Distance, mist, and tucked-in heads made identification to species difficult at all locations. I did see a few of both Greater and Lesser Scaup, but the vast majority could not be identified. Bufflehead--4 Ruddy Duck--3 drakes
North of I-68 bridge:
Scaup species--110 Bufflehead--2 Common Merganser--2 Red-breasted Merganser--1 drake
