Hi everyone, this weekend is the Great Backyard Bird Count! This is a free, fun, and easy event that engages bird watchers of all ages in counting birds to create a real-time snapshot of bird populations. Participants are asked to count birds for as little as 15 minutes (or as long as they wish) on one or more days of the four-day event and report their sightings online at birdcount.org. Anyone can take part in the Great Backyard Bird Count, from beginning bird watchers to experts, and you can participate from your backyard, or anywhere in the world.
Sequoia Audubon Society is hosting field trips to a variety of locations over the course of the weekend:
- On Friday 16th February, Malia DeFelice and Chris Hayward will be leading a trip to Coyote Point
- On Saturday 17th February, Jennifer Rycenga will host a bird walk at Windy Hill OSP
- On Sunday 18th February, Ginny Marshall will lead an exploration of Mori Point, Pacifica; and a wheelchair-accessible walk at Francis Beach/Half Moon Bay State Park will be led by Nelle Lyons and Rita Jennings
- On Monday 19th February, Leslie Flint will host a walk to La Honda Creek OSP
