Subject: [texbirds] White-winged Scoter (+3 Surf) BLORA (Bell Co.)
The female White-winged Scoter continued today at the far west end of the
Belton Lake Outdoor Recreation Area on the Cowhouse Creek arm of Belton
Lake in Sparta (Bell County). Her and the 3 probable female Surf Scoters
could be scoped from the fence line and gate with "Road Closed" sign. I'm
not sure if the area beyond the gate is closed to civilians, as it's not
marked one way or the other, but you may have to go beyond this "boundary"
to get identifiable views of the scoters and to pick out the White-winged.

Lots of Bonaparte's Gulls but nary a Little. Otherwise very few waterbirds
in general on a damp, blustery day.

Good birding!
