Subject: Peace Valley Park (IBA) Bucks Co - (1/28 - 2/3) etc.
The lake is still mostly frozen, allowing concentrated masses of geese in relatively small areas of open water. The species count was 55. Highlights included;
Snow Goose-high report 3 2/3 including one adult dark morph adult
Cackling Goose
6 duck species including:

Common Merganser-numbers increased to 420 1/31 before open water refroze and numbers decreased again.

Wild Turkeys -high count 9
multiple Bald Eagles continue
13 Chipping Sparrows 1/3 (continuing at Sunrise Trek)
Five gull species including 1 Iceland Gull 1/29 (photo) and our usual Lesser Black-backed Gulls
Yellow-bellied Sapsucker, Brown Creeper, E. Bluebird, Yellow-rumped Warbler, Amer. Tree Sparrow, Swamp Sparrow were all reported this week.

I was informed today that the three Sandhill Cranes that have been in the area were seen flying over Peace Valley last week on 1/27 (photo). There have been other INCORRECT entries in eBird at Peace Valley. Those sightings were nearby at King Rd and Chapman Rd., not at the park. Please do not enter sightings outside the park boundaries at the Peace Valley shared Hotspot in eBird. Only species seen while birding at Peace Valley should be entered at the shared Peace Valley hotspots. Those who did enter there should remove them from the entry and enter at the correct location. Thanks. Note that these birds do not seem to tolerate human activity if you get too close. Too close could even be 100 yds. In fact it is best to stay in the car. They have also been reported from Pine Run Dam and likely are roosting there at night as two of the three did late last year.

A Pink-footed Goose and Greater White-fronted Goose were entered in eBird today at the Upper Makefield Firehouse Swamp on Taylorsville Rd. (photos). Thanks to Barbara Bennett for reporting these. Since the Pine Run sightings included both species at the same time, it may be likely the same two birds have been relocated.

Thanks to those who reported their sightings.
