Hello Texbirders!
One would think that spotting the Becard would be the most exciting party of this hike, but it was actually an event that really caught our attention. We were walking the Chacha trail, minding our own business, when a Rock Pigeon FELL from the sky! Looking up, just above tree level, we recognized a Peregrine Falcon swooping away, just as a White-tailed Hawk flew under it! The falling bird almost hit one of our guests!!! When we all started breathing again, we decided to back up, just in case one of the combatants might decide to come back for its prey! We watched for a while, but all was quiet, including all of us!
Can’t guarantee this much excitement EVERY time, but the bird walks are delightful – Monday – Saturday, leaving 8:30am from the Visitor’s Center. Join the fun!
