Toured a section of west Golden Gate Park with Peter J Metropulos today covering Chain of Lakes, along Martin Luther King Drive and nearby oak grove, the Polo Fields, Stables, Spreckles Lake, north edge of Bison Paddock ending at North Lake 5+ hours later.
Geese-Ross's,Snow, (4) Greater-white Fronts continuing on Spreckles
Ring-necked Duck - 2m 7f North Lake
Hooded Merganser-pairs at North, South Lakes. Metropulos stated that they would probably nest here if provided with nest boxes.
Red-necked Grebe - Spreckles
Turkey Vulture - east over stables
Red-shouldered Hawk - near Polo Fields
Woodpeckers - 5 sp. around North Lake, Downy, Hairy (pair), Nuttall's, Red-shafted Flicker, Red-breasted Sapsucker
Tree Swallows - 5+ briefly observed eastbound over Stables, cleared out by the time we got to Spreckles, apparent migrants on the move
Nashville Warblers - North and Middle Lake along with big numbers of Myrtle Warblers (30+) at latter location
Lincoln's Sparrow - Middle Lake
White-Throated Sparrow - along MARTIN LUTHER KING Drive near Polo Fields, with Golden-crowned Flock
Orioles - First winter ORCHARD and Bullock's Orioles. In bramble halfway between bridge and north side steps North Lake
Yesterday, while on a morning nature hike on Mt. Davidson with family and friends we observed an OSPREY flying north around 10 a.m.
