Subject: [Tweeters] Joint Base Lewis McChord (JBLM) Eagles Pride Golf Course monthly bird walk - 1-18-2018
Tweeters,

After having to cancel last month's bird walk, it was nice to get back out on Eagles Pride. (Sorry for the delay -- I'll do better next month.) On a day that we were expecting rain, we dodged it and had fine weather, though a bit cool (42degF-49degF). The eight of us managed to find 28 species on a rather non-birdy day. Highlights include 12 RING-NECKED DUCKS and 10 BUFFLEHEADS at Hodge Lake, 4 BALD EAGLES, 2 ANNA'S HUMMINGBIRDS, and 2 COMMON RAVENS. Also, although we've seen RED-TAILED HAWKS feeding on earthworms before, watching one hawk running around on the side of the 17th green scarfing up earthworms was a treat that several of us hadn't seen before.

The JBLM Eagles Pride GC birders meet the third Thursday of each month at 8:00AM. Starting point is Bldg # 1514, Driving Range Tee, Eagles Pride Golf Course, I-5 Exit 116, Mounts Road Exit. Upcoming walks include the following:

February 15

March 15

April 19

Anyone is welcome to join us!
