Colossal Cave Mountain Park, east of Tucson, was pretty birdy this morning. Notables were a NORTHERN BEARDLESS-TYRRANULET in the mesquite bosque by the museum and a BRIDLED TITMOUSE in Posta Quemada Canyon at 3,600' elevation. It was enjoying the warmth and bugs in a large mesquite before heading back upslope to the oaks. Green-tailed and Spotted Towhees were calling. And 5 or 6 Red-shafted Flickers were at a single pool along the riparian area below the museum until a Sharp-shinned Hawk cleared them all out. Virtually no visitors in the natural areas, but plenty of activity up at the cave.
