Subject: [pen-bird] Distance Calculations of eBird
Hey eBird users,

Just a reminder, if your birding outing has you traveling in and out on the same trail be sure to log your one-way distance traveled only. But do count any new birds/increased numbers you see on your return trip, taking care not to double count bids already counted.

If hiking 2 different trails in and out - one trail in and a different trail out - remember eBird would like to keep a single checklist distance at or under 5 miles. If your round trip on 2 different trails takes you over 5 miles, please create 2 separate checklists.
