Subject: [mou-net] Carolina Wren, Ft. Snelling
A cursory check of the hillside behind the visitors center revealed no
Wren, but the ensuing walk around the main lake brought some success.
South of the center, not too far past the huge ice-flow over the dirt road,
the Wren was vocalizing vigorously from the lakeshore near water's edge. It
was ground-feeding at first, judging by the flung snow and tossed leaves,
but it quickly disappeared into the thick cattails. It continued to
vocalize for about a half hour, but never reappeared for a look. Perhaps
the warm temperatures made more food available in the foliage.
