Subject: [obol] Lane Unit 2 Raptor Route
Hello All,

Tye Jeske and I had good numbers of raptors along the route today. The 82 mile route covers the West Eugene Wetlands area, north between Green Hill Road and River Road to Hwy 36 near Junction City then between Hwy 99W and Washburn Road to the Lane County line.

Red-tailed Hawk - 59
Kestrel - 66
Harrier - 12
Red-shouldered Hawk - 5
Bald Eagle - 25 (13 adult, 12 imm)
Peregrine Falcon - 1
Merlin - 1
Sharp-shinned Hawk - 1
Cooper's Hawk - 1
Great Horned Owl - 1 on nest

After the route on the drive home we encountered a roost of 52 BALD EAGLES seen from Franklin and Alvadore Roads. Also had the only ROUGH-LEGGED HAWK of the day on Franklin Road and a second MERLIN of the day on Milliron, west of Hwy 99.

Good Birding,

John Sullivan
