Interesting article from today's Washington (D>C>) Post on how two finch
species in the Galapagos have interbred to create (at least for the moment)
a new finch species on one island.

https://www.washingtonpost.com/national/health-science/when-two-different-types-of-birds-mated-a-new-species-big-bird-was-born/2018/01/05/0d33a62a-f0d8-11e7-b390-a36dc3fa2842_story.html?utm_term=.6cca60b07701&wpisrc=nl_evening&wpmm=1

apparently primary article is in *Science*. I assume that would be the
issue normally delivered today, but given the randomness of USPS deliveries
(I just received the Dec. 22 issue yesterday) I do not have that yet.
