I arrived at Gas Works Park around 1:15, and the Long-tailed Duck was at the spot marked on the map in the original post. It was swimming about 50 feet offshore towards the north. I set up on the shoreline ahead of it, and for whatever reason, it turned and swam directly at me, finally changing course just about 15 feet away from me, turning back towards the north. It then began diving. It was still diving when I left around 1:30 but had returned to about 50-100 feet offshore.
