Subject: Beaverdam -- Common Goldeneye
Despite more open water in the main part of Beaverdam Reservoir at Falls Lake, the Hooded Merganser flock has increased in size (now over 850 individuals). Scanning multiple times, I was able to finally pick out a nice female Common Goldeneye. Other species in the mix include Bufflehead, both Scaup, Ring-neck Duck, Pied-billed Grebe and DC Cormorant. Several dozen Mallard and Canada Goose on the periphery.

Hoping this cold over the next two nights will further concentrate birds at the major and minor reservoirs.

Good birding!
