Hello, this is the Audubon Society of Portland Rare Bird Report. This report
was made Thursday January 4. If you have anything to add call Harry Nehls at
503-233-3976.

On December 30 a BLACK-VENTED SHEARWATER was observed off Bandon. That day a
probable BROWN BOOBY was off Boiler Bay. A SABINEšS GULL and 45 KITTIWAKES
were also seen there. A NORTHERN WATERTHRUSH was photographed January 2 at
Brownsmead. A RUFF is now being seen about Alsea Bay east of Waldport. On
January 3 a RUSTY BLACKBIRD was reported near Turner. The Portland
VIRGINIAšS WARBLER and Commonwealth Lake YELLOW-BELLIED SAPSUCKER continue
to be seen.

On December 12 a late TROPICAL KINGBIRD was at Cape Blanco. A BROWN PELICAN
was at Pacific City January 1. The Bay City Sewage Ponds LONG-TAILED DUCK
continues. On December 29 a GYRFALCON was at Brownsmead. It or another was
photographed December 30 at Warrenton.

A group of REDPOLLS was photographed December 29 at Howell House on Sauvie
Island. A MOCKINGBIRD is being seen in southwest Portland. On January 1 the
Tangent eagle roost contained 69 BALD EAGLES. A TREE SPARROW and eight
CINNAMON TEAL were at Talking Waters Park in Albany January 2. TRICOLORED
BLACKBIRDS were reported during the week at Philomath and near Albany. On
January 1 a BARN SWALLOW was at Philomath. A young BARRROWšS GOLDENEYE was
photographed during week at Finley NWR. A SAYšS PHOEBE was photographed
December 31 at Eugene. Two REDPOLLS were seen during the week in Eugene. On
January 2 three TRUMPETER SWANS were on the Deschutes River south of Bend.
