I found an adult Ivory Gull in the parking lot of the Lake County Fairgrounds today around 9:45 A.M. (03 Jan 2018). It was a short and bittersweet encounter that lasted less than 5 minutes. The gull touched down and flew off to the northwest. People who arrived shortly after stuck around and were unsuccessful in relocating it. Birders should be particularly keen to check any open water sites - as few as they are - in the area. Local rivers and dams would be the best spots to begin with.
