In reply to a rfi, here is some general information.
One of the great hot spots in the Lower Rio Grande Valley, Salineno Feeding Station is located about 7 miles west of Roma on the Rio Grande, and it is normally open 7 days a week from 8 am to 4 pm, starting early November, closing late March. The land is owned by Valley Land Fund in McAllen, TX, and it is staffed by volunteers working for U.S. Fish & Wildlife Service out of the Santa Ana NWR offices, under a Memorandum of Understanding between USF&WS and Valley Land Fund. It offers excellent viewing of birds at the feeders and great photo opportunities. The birds peak in volume and species diversity from early December through early-March. When visiting Salineno Feeding Station please thank the volunteers who staff the station for their selfless work and long hours - staffed this year by Lois and Merle, and Mike. The bird feed is paid for by visitors' donations.
