Subject: [obol] ECAS Raptor Survey - Linn Route 5, plus Lewis's Woodpecker and Northern Shrike
While looking for raptors on the ECAS Winter Raptor Survey route 5, in the
Scio area, I happened across a Lewis's Woodpecker, at the intersection of
Fish Hatchery Drive and Lombardy Drive. It was flycatching from the top of
some tall fir trees north of Fish Hatchery Drive. There was also a Northern
Shrike at Richardson's Gap.

As to the raptors, the results were very similar to that of a year ago,
except that Bald Eagles were fewer:

Red-tailed Hawks 25

American Kestrels 44

Northern Harrier 1

Bald Eagles - Adult 4

Bald Eagles - Imm 1

Cooper's Hawks 2

Peregrine Falcon 1

Barn Owls 2

I drove 65.1 miles in 5 hours, 35 minutes.

Good birding,

Jeff
