Subject: [ia-bird] snow buntings
This afternoon between 2:30 and 4:00 while “running errands” between home, Nevada, and Ames I traveled secondary roads.

Most of these mixed flocks (9) observed along the open fields consisted of Horned Larks and Chestnut-collared Longspurs numbering in the twenties and thirties with 3 flocks over 50 and 2 flocks well over 100 individuals. A flock of about 50 individuals containing at least 5 Snow Buntings was located about 1/4 mile East of 590th Avenue on 210th Street (Story County).
