I drove over to the marina at Beech Fork Lake this afternoon to check for any waterfowl. My wife spotted a gull on the water and getting a good look at the gull, I discovered that it was a Bonaparte's Gull in winter plumage. As I left, the gull was flying around the lake, diving in the water occasionally doing a little fishing.
There were also about 20 Hooded Mergansers, 12 Mallards and 9 Pied-billed Grebes. A Great Blue Heron was also flying around.
