Subject: [Va-bird] Huntley Monday Morning Bird Walk

Thirty-two birders assembled at Huntley Meadows this cool and sunny morning for the weekly Monday Morning Birdwalk. We saw a total of forty-two species on a morning when the boardwalk was a bit slick and there a thin layer of ice covering much of the wetlands. Notable was one of the largest assemblies of Canada Geese that we have seen in quite some time. We also saw all seven woodpecker species that are usually present in the region at this time of year. Five species of ducks rounded out the waterfowl.
