Subject: [CVBirds] River Walk bird survey at the Cosumnes River Preserve
Dear Birders,

The December monthly bird survey of the River Walk trail will take place
this Saturday, the 9th of the month. Jim Rowoth will lead us. The trail is
in pretty good shape, given the long interval since the last rain. The
survey meets at the Visitor Center parking lot off Franklin Blvd. at 06:45.
The forecast is for a chilly start (low 30s) warming through the morning to
the mid-50s. There's a nice mix of birds to be seen these days, including a
striking crane individual. It is a leucistic sandhill that from any
distance appears entirely white, excepting the red crown patch. It usually
roosts on the Lost Slough parcel west of Franklin Blvd.

Best,

John Trochet
