A COMMON LOON was observed today at midday on the far side (west) of the lake. It eventually worked its way a bit closer so I could get some documentary photos. Also seen was an EASTERN PHOEBE on the northeast side of the lake along the trail. It was flycatching and tail pumping from a willow branch. Waterfowl were not abundant but there was a pretty good variety especially on the western part of the lake near the dam where I had walked.
